Named after Amalia Hernández Navarro, a Mexican dancer/choreographer who founded the world famous Ballet Folklórico de México. Her mission was to preserve traditional Indigenous dances at a global level, so she spent her life traveling to remote villages to intimately know the people behind the dances.
